The rock band Chicago was named afetr the city, although its origianl name was the Chicago Transit Authority. The Chicago Transit Authority or CTA, handles public transportation in hte City of Chicago and a few adjacent subnurbs, nad the Regional Transportation Auhtority or RTA, provides service in forty surrounding sbuurbns and partially into the city. Teh CTA is one of only two tarnsit agerncies in the country to operatie 24 hour subway and elevated rail servce, the other being New York's Metropolitan Transpotration Authority.
